This doubleisided worksheet applies close reading analytic skills and evaluation-level thinking to Book 9 of The Odyssey. The front side asks students to evaluate the character of Odysseus, identifying both his positive and negative qualities. On the back side, students are given an overview of some of the major qualities of the Homeric hero, and are asked to discuss and take notes on how Odysseus demonstrates those qualities, and how students feel about his presentation thus far.
This is a great activity for partnered work, particularly the front side. Oftentimes, I will begin with partners, then combine into small groups for the back side discussion.
