Product Description

This is a three part assessment for The Odyssey that requires students to think critically about what it means to be an epic hero and if that makes someone heroic. Odysseus will be compared to Spongebob in The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.

The first part is a test, which is not included because I think it's hard to find tests that are geared to what you in particular taught to your students. This product has a review sheet for twenty terms from the story, focusing mainly on the first half when Odysseus is having the worst time getting home.

Part two is a poster project. I am grouping my students into groups of three to work on it. They have four class days to complete it. The poster requires them to compare and contrast Odysseus with Spongebob.

Part three is a brief essay discussing which character better fits the epic hero trope. This product includes a very clear rubric for both the rough draft and the final essay.
