This is a difficult text, but I created this lit circle packet to make it more fun and to get kids interacting while using analysis and discussion skills.
This bundle contains everything a teacher would need to have literature circle discussions on The Odyssey. The reading guides for students focus on developing connections and analyzing whether or not Odysseus is a hero (selecting and analyzing quotations from the reading). Tragic hero instruction should precede these lit circle documents.
You will receive:
1. Lit circle guidelines
2. Instructions on how to analyze quotations with examples
3. Preparation handouts for students for the following sections of Odyssey: Wanderings, Cyclops, Circe, Revenge. Students will use these sheets while reading and then during lit circle discussions
4. Rubric to grade students' prep for lit circle and discussions during
5. Reading questions
6. Heroism chart for each section of the reading
Common Core Standards included.
