This resource is also a part of my Omnivore's Dilemma Research Bundle! Check it out by clicking here!
The Omnivore's Dilemma is a terrific tool to teach students how to effectively research a topic. The Writer's Stations break down the text into the following categories:
-The Problem (Industrialized Food System)
-The Solutions (Other Food System Options)
- Animal Welfare (Effects & Possibilities for Change)
- The Environment (Effects & Possibilities for Change)
- The Economy (Effects & Possibilities for Change)
- Personal Health (Effects & Possibilities for Change)
Each category/station includes guiding questions and tips for how to effectively use the index to find the textual evidence that best supports your claim.
In my own classroom, I used these tools as stations to encourage movement and autonomy, but you could also pick and choose resources to use in small groups to remediate evidence selection and evaluation.
