PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A great read aloud intro for segregation and civil rights. Activities include:

- anticipation guide (Reading for Meaning)
- book talk menu
- partner journal- after reading, students write a letter to a partner regarding their feelings about the book. Take up and pass back out to random students, or my personal favorite, wad up the papers and let students throw the wads across the room. Students choose a wad, unfold, and respond.

In library, I use this to teach about the historical fiction genre or if I'm doing a friendship theme.
