Product Description
Imagine if The Outsiders was written from the point of view of a Soc instead of a Greaser? For most of The Outsiders, the Socs are villainized, until Ponyboy has some experiences that help us see what maybe goes on there on the other side of town. The rationale behind this assignment is to not only get students writing more, but to also help them see how perspective can affect a telling of a story as well as their own lives.

I usually spend one 45-minute class period on this writing assignment, although it could be stretched easily and treated as a writing assignment with drafts and revising. The attachments include a pdf and editable word doc of the assignment as a writing assignment, as well as a pdf and editable word doc of a project with different ways of displaying the story (poem, comic strip, etc.).
