This pack includes 4 activities to be used at various points in the book:
- After Chapter 2: Discussion questions with additional scaffolding questions to be used after
- After Chapter 4: Notecatcher to gist key points in both Wes the author and other Wes's stories mid-way through the book; also includes two discussion questions
- After Chapter 4: Reflection to build empathy with characters
- Anytime after Chapter 5: Identifying similar themes between TOWM and "Cuz He's Black," performed by slam poet Javan Johnson (full lesson plan and worksheet included)
These resources can be used at these specific points or within a chapter or two of their suggested time. Great opportunities for students to pause and reflect on what they've read and make connections to their own lives.
