Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" makes a debut in the moment between Johnny and Ponyboy from chapter 5. Students will reflect on the meaning of each set of couplets to determine the meaning behind Frost's words. Additional questions are included for students to engage with the text by providing their thoughts and opinions of the poem's relation with The Outsiders. Students will be able to determine the rhyme scheme of the poem to extend their knowledge of structure of poetry.
