Chapter by chapter questions and activities, ready to copy, on the S.E. Hinton novel. Each set of questions consists of increasingly sophisticated thinking skills yet interests and challenges students of all ages and abilities in the grades 7, 8, 9, 10 range.
Questions include content, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and valuation. Emphasis is on responses involving critical thinking on an interesting and often personal level, although literary and creative concerns are introduced casually and unobtrusively. The questions often lead to self-sustaining debate among the students.
The activities “work” extremely well with classes at different levels, and “de-streamed” groupings. Reluctant students really jump in.
