This easy-to-use worksheet allows students to go back and review the stereotypes placed on the Greasers and Socials by pulling evidence straight from the text. Many of my students have struggled with learning how to cite a proper quote. This worksheet explains what a quote is and why it is important, it also provides an easy example for students to follow. Students are asked to pull evidence from the text and quote it properly on two different scenarios in chapter two of The Outsiders.
1. Why/how Dally was giving Cherry and Marcia a hard time at the movies.
2. How Cherry provides her point of view that the Socials may not have it as easy as the Greasers believe.
This worksheet is meant to be used as a stepping stone for students to learn how to go back and re-read important events in the story and then quote them correctly. My 8th graders enjoyed this exercise immensely!
