The words included in this activity can be used in a predict-o-gram designed to get students thinking about the book. In addition, once your class groups the words into exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution categories, they can write stories about what they think will happen in the book. Once the stories have been written, students should monitor their comprehension by checking to see how accurate their predictions actually are at the end of each chapter. Once the book has been read, the prediction can be modified and turned into a summary. Another purpose of a predict-o-gram is to get students to think about fictional plot structure.
