Review characters and key quotes/ events in the story The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton with this set of Quiz Quiz Trade cards.
This document should be printed front-to-back so that quotes are on the front with answers on the back.
Works great as a review of the novel, or to prepare for the
Outsiders Chapter 1-8 Quiz
To play the game, each student receives one card. They should be able to hold it in their palm so their partners can't see the answers.
Students raise their hands and walk around the classroom, looking for a partner. They give a partner a "high five," then one of them (Partner A) shows the quote to Partner B (answer in the palm). Partner B guesses the character who said it and explains how that quote is significant. If necessary, Partner A coaches Partner B. Then they take turns, so Partner B shows the quote and Partner A guesses.
The partners TRADE cards, and then they both put their hands in the air to look for a new partner.
Be sure to remind students that it is fine to see the same quote multiple times-- each time is practice and allows for their partner to hear it explained in different ways.
End the activity after about 20 minutes, or until students have seen most of the quotes. I like to follow up with the quiz immediately while it's still fresh in their minds.
