This reader's theater was written for a small group of 4 students. The Owl and the Pussy-cat are deep in love and have gone sailing in a boat. They travel for a while until they find a ring and are able to get married. The whole story is told in rhyme and most of it was written by Edward Lear. However, some extra rhymes were added to give the story more flavor and some of the characters more lines. I use all of my Reader's Theaters to help students improve their fluency. My students, especially the ones struggling to read, still require motivation to improve and that is where Reader's Theater comes in. My 3rd grade group needed some extra help with vocabulary words which is why I have a list of words on the first page. I have also placed the words that rhyme in bold so students can identify them easily. My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that you will enjoy this small group Reader's Theater. As I have said before, small groups are better because students aren't waiting as long to do their part and they get more practice in. My ESL students find these scripts to be their favorite part of our lesson time. Please let me know what you think of this one. Most of my scripts are black and white to make it easier to photocopy. If you like this script look for other Mother Goose scripts. I've even put a book of them together.Thank you.
