"That is the most fun I've ever had in a math class!" That's what one of my students said after playing The Parabola Game. During the parabola game, I display the equation of a parabola in standard form. In small groups, the students have cards that may or may not match the displayed equation. There are five types of cards: vertex, vertex form, tables, graphs, and discriminant. Students are forced to be quick and accurate in this game because the sooner they answer, the more points they win for their team. Also, if they are wrong, they lose points for their team. Could you make this game yourself? Sure! But why waste your time. You can take advantage of the work that I did. I also made sure there are no duplicate cards (which is a pain. Trust me, you don't want to deal with that).
