For this unit, students may choose from the novels 1984 by George Orwell, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The first three novels fit the dystopian theme, while the last gives an opportunity for those who prefer historical fiction. This unit can easily be adapted for other novels that fit common themes and subjects.
