The International Day of Peace for 2016 is Wednesday, September 21. All around the world, schools, communities, and organizations will be celebrating the beauty and strength of getting along and caring for our neighbors. Together we are stronger. Together we will shine.
This gentle little poem tells the story of an opportunity for helping encourage working together, being together, and creating community. I hope it stirs a lovely spark of peace in your classroom. We created a "Peace" bulletin board with the poem centered in the middle, our peace tree drawings encircling the poem, and added pictures we found of neighbors caring for one another and working together to help others. We can teach peace. We can encourage peace. We can build strong bridges of hope and promise and trust between our neighbors. And we must.
