Chapter three of John Steinbeck's The Pearl is full of symbolism, and a great place to take a break to uncover some meaningful connections that students have discovered so far.
Groups of four choose from the quotes, and fill in the graphic organizer. They will focus on context (what is happening right now in the novella), significance (explaining why it's important and how it connects different literary elements--character/symbol, etc.), and finally, connection (how does this relate to a theme).
