This is a wonderful assignment that I use in class. The students work in groups to answer questions about some of the characters in chapter three of The Pearl. Then, the students take the information they wrote and create a poster symbolic of the warning they would provide Kino and Juana. After the posters are complete the groups present their posters to the class explaining what their warning was, the symbolism, and the quote(s) they used from the book to support their analysis. After all groups have presented their posters, the students complete a seven question handout that asks them to critique other groups' posters and ends with how they would improve their own group's poster based off of what they have learned through the assignment.
