The Pendulum Project - For High School Honors and AP Physics 1 Students

- Zip

Description
The Pendulum Project is an excellent Windows application for Physics Honors and AP Physics high school students. It is based on several AP Physics problems that have been given in several AP Physics exams. It is a classic problem in Newtonian Mechanics that help physics student master concepts in dynamics, circular motion, conservation of energy, and simple harmonic motion.
We made this problem more challenging in several ways, and a great learning activity for Honors and AP Physics 1 students. The Pendulum Project is about a pendulum that keeps swinging back and forth. You will be asked to enter the following values:
Length of the String
Gravity
Mass of the bob
Angle Θ with the vertical the pendulum is released
The computer will find:
Period and Frequency
The Maximum Velocity
Maximum Kinetic Energy
For every degree the pendulum moves, the following values are calculated:
Velocity
Kinetic Energy KE
Potential Energy PE
Total Energy TE
Centrifugal Force
Tension in the string
Net Force
Linear Acceleration
Angular Acceleration
All the results will be printed on the screen.
It is recommended that teachers give a different set of values to each student. To practice graphing, the students will do the graph Angular Displacement ( - Θ to + Θ ) vs. PE , KE, and TE.
There are three good things about this product. First, the complete solution of this problem is explained in minute detail. Second, the students will be highly motivated while they work for about 2 hours to complete the Pendulum Project. And third, with this application, the teacher will be able to enter the data for one student in a few seconds, and then view the Answer Key on the screen right away.
Again, this physics application is for computers using Windows 10 or newer.
