This mock trial is a complete unit that includes a lesson plan, a script, glossary and visual evidence. Students will debate on whether Alexander the Great deserved his title as "great." The mock trial can be used in a class that does not have any background in legal procedures.
I created this mock trial for my Global 1 students after they completed this DBQ: Alexander the Great of Ancient Greece
The mock trial allows my students to see Alexander the Great from different perspectives, and it gets students out of their chairs. We have lots of fun with this! It elevated classroom participation and sparked multiple conversations beyond the topic. It is one of my favorite lessons.
Buy this as part of my Lesson Plan Bundle: Alexander the Great and Ancient Greece
for only $3.00 more and you get a bonus lesson, the Alexander the Great of Ancient Greece DBQ and a PowerPoint.
This mock trial addresses the Common Core State Standards. It has been updated with a page outlining the English Language Arts/History/Social Studies grades 9-10 as outlined at http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/RH/9-10
