This is a PowerPoint Presentation that kept growing and growing. It started as my researching the properties for each of the groups/families of the periodic table. But I could not leave out the history of the development of the table including contributions from Mendeleev, Moseley, Seaborg, Dobereiner, deChancourtois, Newlands and Meyer. One also cannot discuss the periodic table without mentioning its organization into groups and periods. I have also included periodic trends (ionization energies, electron affinities, atomic radii) with supporting data representations. I have included a brief discussion of the comparisons of chemical and physical properties and have broken the table into the following groups to discuss the properties for each group: alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, other metals, metalloids, non-metals, halogens, noble (inert) gases, rare earth metals, and hydrogen. I tried to include as many images as possible and have documentd my research and use of images by listing the weblinks at the end of the presentation. Caution: This is a lengthy ppt and large file. But, I would rather have too much and simply skip or delete slides I would not use rather than to have to build in more slides that I need.
