This worksheet is meant to accompany showing the film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" at the conclusion of the Personality unit in a Psychology or AP Psychology class. Students pick one of the main characters (Charlie, Sam, or Patrick) and apply various psychological theories (psychoanalytic, humanistic, trait, and social-cognitive) to describe/explain their personality as represented in the film.
Concepts applied include defense mechanisms, id/ego/superego, psychosexual stages of development, locus of control, optimism/pessimism, reciprocal determinism, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and the big five personality traits (conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, openness to experience, and agreeableness).
