If you want a novel to read that can address many mathematical concepts on higher levels, The Phantom Tollbooth is the book to use. As I read this book, I kept coming back to the operations with integers. Teachers can use these two resources when teaching students about the operations with integers while reading this novel to the class. There are two lesson plans included. The first is a worksheet with 16 unique problems and includes an answer sheet. The second is an activity/project that requires students to create a presentation (hard product or visual product) about the rules for operations with integers. A scoring rubric is included.
