Description

PHYZ

This is part of the classroom curriculum I developed for use with my high school physics students. This particular topic is covered exclusively in my AP Physics 2 (and previously AP Physics B) course.

LAB

Students will be working with something (computer simulation in this case) while completing this assignment.

SPRINGBOARD

The instructor guides students through this activity via classroom discussion. The activity is a springboard for that discussion. This is not intended as a homework or independent activity.

THE PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT

We begin by watching the linked videoclips. We build on those observations using PhET’s Photoelectric Effect simulation. The goal is to understand how photon energy and quantity relate in the photoelectric effect.
