The "Pirate Magnet School" is a one-act script with a flexible cast. Plus, look for the correlating playwrighting and acting activities in my store that will help round out your drama or writing camp.
Welcome to the Pirate Magnet School, the only school educating our future, aspiring pirates. Here you will find Captain Bamboozle the principal, Mrs. Vendetta the school counselor, and two teachers, Ms. Absconder and Mr. McAargh…all holding the ship together (well, sort of).
Present are the student body cliques: The Cheerleaders, The Goody-Goodies, The Freaks, and The Nobodies. Since this is a pirate school and pirates are supposed to do terrible deeds, it is the Goody-Goody kids who get sent to the principal for doing nice things. With the school’s zero-tolerance for good behavior, the Goody-Goodies have to fight and prove their worth to graduate and become pirates.
A new girl arrives who, inadvertently, brings with her The Curse of Grace O’Malley, her ancient pirate ancestor from the Irish Seas. The curse throws the school into a turmoil, giving the Goody-Goodies the chance to prove their mettle and try to save the school. In a surprise twist, it is The Nobodies who save the day in the end, catapulting them to star status and making them The Somebodies.
