This activity is one of my favorites and the kids get so into it that they forget they are learning! There’s no prep and you get engagement from even the most reluctant learners. Working in groups of 4, students create an Astronomy board game that involves the planets in our solar system. Students will create interesting facts that go on the game board, create questions for the question cards, create the rules and the instructions for the board game. The students also bring in the supplies to create their own unique game, then present their board game and play each other’s board games. It's easy prep, the students are engaged the whole time and you will get major buy in, the kids LOVE IT!!! Creating their own game is a great cooperative learning strategy that empowers students to take ownership of their learning and they get to teach their peers at the same time.
