Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived!
Aren't complicated political civil wars and dynastic turn overs just really frustrating and boring? Maybe for some empires, but not for the Plantagenets and the Tudors!
This unique lesson plan allows students to understand a complicated era of British history and tries to make it fun for them.
Start with an engaging and fun 29 slide PowerPoint, full of notes, stories, anecdotes, images, and jokes about the Plantagenets and Tudors. Students will learn why it's called "The Cousins War", who were the Princes in the Tower, was Richard III really a hunchback, why did Henry VIII marry so many times, and why it was really unlikely that England's greatest queen should ever come to the throne.
After the PowerPoint, students will be asked to complete a creative writing assignment, after reading short and in depth biographies of the different people involved and about life in Tudor Court.
Also included are a comical video clip about the rediscovery of the body of Richard III and an audio clip about the Princes in the Tower.
Presented in the right way, students will learn to love all the different Edwards, Richards, Henrys, and Elizabeths.
