Product Description
School and the Pledge of Allegiance go hand in hand. Students learn about our nation and its symbols at school. Students learn the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen. One of those symbols is the flag and one action of citizenship is saying the Pledge of Allegiance. This lesson engages students with the language of the Pledge, and the history of the Pledge. Students write their own pledge using synonyms for the original words. if the student's state has a pledge to its state flag, compare that pledge to the national pledge. For the extension students analyze two other oaths of allegiance, one from 1783, the second from 1865.
