Based upon the book, "The Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg, this is a story about a boy who travels to the North Pole and meets Santa. He is chosen to receive the first gift of Christmas. For that gift, he chooses a bell from Santa's sleigh. He makes that choice because he believes. He eventually finds that only those who believe can hear the sweet music of the bell.
Using this presentation for your guidance lesson, you can easily help students to value belief. Belief works miracles when it is experienced. The presentation discusses both comprehension of the story, details about the story, and helps students to understand how believing in self and others can impact life and accomplishments.
This presentation has 15 slides and includes a link to the book being read aloud by me, Counselor Bev. The video runs approximately 8:30 minutes.
The presentation includes an activity in giving to utilize at the end of the lesson.
I would schedule 30-45 minutes for this lesson and activity.
The PowerPoint is customizable and includes comprehension questions to support you in your lesson. The presentation includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
If you have any issues with the links, etc., please contact me so that I can address them. When you have technology, you will inevitably have problems, right? I want your experience to be the very best possible!! Just let me know.
A quick FYI- in Powerpoint, links are not active in the editing mode- only in presentation mode. I have made a note in the presentation, but knowing ahead of time is always a good thing, too!!! It might save you some frustration.
