Are you ready to climb aboard the Polar Express?
In this reading skills companion, students will use the classic holiday story The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg to practice important reading skills.
This resource contains two pages of vocabulary questions using context clues and prefixes/suffixes. There are also two pages of questions dealing with figurative language within the story, including similes, metaphors, and idioms. Three pages are comprehension questions, asking students to answer "right there" questions, as well as questions that ask them to dig deeper to find meaning within the story. Finally, the last three pages include an interactive sequencing activity, where students will put together their own Polar Express train by putting the events of the story in the order in which they happened.
This resource is perfect for your Polar Express day, or for an extended study on the book.
