The Polk Street kids are on tour! This 23 page document includes a titile page and two full units which each include atitle page, teaching suggestions, and a mini 8 page booklet (made from 4 pages copied back to back and stapled), an anwer key, and a credit page. These units are to use with the books “Look Out, Washington, D.C.!” and “Next Stop, New York City!”
The first page of each booklet invites the child to share what they already know about the city visited in the book and the last page is a mini-research project to extend the study. (The Washington unit ends with the child reading about a place to visit in Washington, D.C. and recording several facts in their own words . The New York City unit ends with students looking at flags of many countries in an almanac or encyclopedia, then drawing and describing two of their favorites.
The pages to be copied for each child can be copied without color ink. (My school is probably like yours… stingy with color ink due to lack of funds.)
This unit combines two of my single novel units for a reduced price so do not buy the individual units if you want them both!
