Questions for discussion, review, or assessment which invite students to delve deep (pun intended) into the disaster subgenre and to compare and contrast the two films. Questions are detailed and in depth and will take some focus and discussion. Questions ask students to consider how the films create a sense of claustrophobia, what role religion plays in the films, and to evaluate how the special effects in the modern film make it more or less effective as a disaster film. Alternatively, students can view several clips side by side and still complete the questions.
