How can a simple object, used over and over again, create visual poetry? In this project students analyze the work of artists who use multiples in their work. They then challenge themselves to create a sculpture that uses multiples of the same object to express a visual idea.
For the advanced art student, these projects offer a focused exploration of important media and ideas in an artist's toolbox. The projects provide both Studio and Sketchbook/Process Journal components and are designed to allow students to build skills and explore ideas. These projects are suitable for any advanced class, including the IB DP Visual Arts course.
It is also highly recommended that students are familiar with the strategies for analyzing and writing about art that are put forth in the mini-lesson Discovering More About Art
which can be downloaded for free from the Thinking
