By supplementing these mentor texts and lessons into your English Language Arts block, your students can see many ways this skill can be presented, as well as analyze, discuss, and write about their thinking. Through these lessons, you are not only exposing your students to powerful picture books that highlight your standards, you are meeting your Writing and Speaking and Listening standards as well. These units are written for the Florida State Standards but also fit the Common Core Standards.
