The Power of W.O.W. Elements of Drama activity: This activity supplements the the 4th grade Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Journeys story "The Power of W.O.W." Unit 1, Lesson 4. The activity requires the teacher to copy pages 111-114 of the text for the students to use to complete the activity. The students will be instructed to circle, box, and highlight various elements of a play. The instruction activity page teaches the students about the parts of a play that make it unique. This is a hands on lesson that will engage ALL your learners! It is tried and true. My students loved it and everyone stayed attentive. The activity teaches: title, cast of characters, acts, scenes, setting, lines, dialogue, and stage directions. The activity stresses the set up of a play and helps students to understand how drama text is organized and set up for the reader.
