Happy New Year! The start of a new year is the perfect time to remind students that they are continually learning and growing. With a growth mindset, they can meet their goals. This year, instead of focusing on the term "New Year's Resolution", change it up a bit and focus on "The Year of Yet"....which is a play on the term 'the power of yet'. Use this writing activity to have students focus on what they haven't accomplished YET but they would like to accomplish.
This one page 8.5 x 11 poster (landscape style) activity says.... 2019: The year of YET.... It’s a little word with a lot of power! Name 4 things you haven’t accomplished YET but you would like to accomplish in 2019. Explain what you will do to help ensure you achieve each one.
At the bottom of the New Year's writing activity is the quote "There is a difference between not knowing and not knowing YET.” This growth mindset quote is a great way to get a conversation started as you discuss the meaning.
Please look closely at the poster thumbnail to see the amount of writing space included. There are 4 boxes. This is not an in depth writing activity, so the writing space is limited. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message before you purchase.
This poster activity does not have themed New Year's clip art, rather I made it to have a whimsical doodle-look using patterns, arrows, and a variety of fonts. There are lots of places on the poster for students to add their creative touches with color.
The finished product will look great hanging outside your classroom or on a bulletin board, and parents will enjoy reading them when they are sent home.
