Close Reading Directions:
Complete directions for three readings of the text are included. Each reading focuses on a different text-based skill.
The Preamble Text:
The complete text of The Preamble with space for annotations is included.
Preamble Task Cards:
Students work collaboratively to match text from The Preamble with its corresponding explanation. Printing on card stock and/or laminating is recommended for continued use.
The students work together to create a preamble for the classroom rules. A fill-in-the-blank poster is included for the final product.
An exit ticket is provided as a quick assessment of student understanding. Six exits tickets fit on one page. Printing the exit tickets on sticky notes is optional, and directions for doing so are included.
