Product Description
Three slideshows explaining the challenges our young government faced from 1789-1798, including the first cabinet choices, interpretations of the Constitution, the National Bank, disagreements between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, the Trans-Appalachian West, the Whiskey Rebellion, the Battle of Fallen Timbers and Treaty of Greenville, Jay's and Pinkney's Treaties, the birth of political parties, the election of 1797, the establishment of Washington DC, the XYZ Affair, and the Alien and Sedition Acts. The third slideshow also contains vintage and current samples of political cartoons, along with an extra credit opportunity to create one of the time period. The bundle includes a "hook" of asking the students what they would do as POTUS in 1789 to deal with the issues that Washington would ultimately face. Also included in this unit are notes sheets for each of the 3 slideshows, as well as quizzes.
