This PowerPoint presentation examines the administration of Dwight Eisenhower. It's divided into two parts. The first covers his "new look" foreign policy. It begins with an examination of the strategy of "brinkmanship" advocated by John Foster Dulles. It then examines America's responses to problems arising in Hungary, Egypt (the Suez Crisis), Cuba, and space (Sputnik). The first part ends with a discussion of the U-2 incident. Part two covers Ike's domestic policy. It covers topics such as McCarthyism, the policy of "termination", "Operation Wetback" and the Interstate Highway System. This presentation is used in an AP United States history class and is based on Chapter 37 of the American Pageant, 14th edition.
