Instructions / Teaching Notes:
-The PowerPoint aligns with both guided notes graphic organizers; circles with numbers and/or letters are provided to guide students as they take notes.
-The instructor may present the information as a guided lecture and have students complete the notes, or students may work independently or with a partner to complete either (or both) graphic organizers on their own before using the PowerPoint to check for understanding.
-The PowerPoint contains two “quick assessments” which can be used to formatively assess student understanding at various points during the lesson.
-Two additional activities related to Washington’s presidency are included in this lesson and can be completed independently, with a partner, or with a small group: (1) a primary source analysis activity from Washington’s Farewell Address and (2) an illustrated timeline project.
