Instructions / Teaching Notes:
-The Jefferson PowerPoint aligns with the guided notes graphic organizer; circles with numbers are provided to guide students as they take notes.
-The instructor may present the information as a guided lecture and have students complete the notes, or students may work independently or with a partner to complete the graphic organizer on their own before using the PowerPoint to check for understanding.
-The end of the PowerPoint contains a “quick assessment” which can be used to formatively assess student understanding of the lesson.
-The Louisiana Purchase primary source analysis activity can be used as a culminating activity at the end of the lesson or as an enrichment activity during the discussion of the Louisiana Purchase.
