The theme is 'forgiveness' based on The Parable of the Lost Son.
Learning Objective: To understand what forgiveness means.
Read the Lost Parable story on the presentation - it contains colorful pictures and captions. Students are asked why we should say 'sorry' and understand the meaning of forgiveness and understanding.
Students are asked about their own experiences of getting hurt and wanting that person to say sorry and what it feels like if they don't apologize. This theme links in with the parable - younger son saying sorrying and asking his father for forgiveness. Although his father forgives his son, the elder son finds it difficult and becomes angry.
Students are taken through the story and are asked questions along the way.
Optional playscript - You can prepare your students to act out the parable. I've written a playscript based on the Lost Son parable from the New Testament. The playscript is in word format so that you can enter the names of the students and/or slightly adjust to suit your class.
There are questions on the slides for students to think about and respond to during assembly.
I have included Teacher's Notes to guide you through the Presentation and questions to ask.
The assembly ends with an appropriate short prayer on the above theme.
