The Protestant Reformation- Webquest and Video Analysis with Key-this is a 12 page document that contains a webquest and a completed teachers key for easy marking. It contains 28 questions based on a Crash Course World History video and the History.com website.
Students will be introduced to the topic of the Protestant Reformation by watching the Crash Course video: Luther and the Protestant Reformation. The video will introduce Luther, explain the power of the Catholic Church during the early 16th century, describe Luther's falling out with the church over indulgences and corruption, and discuss the impacts of Luther's 95 Theses. The video will also explain how Luther's ideas spread at such a fast rate (for the time) because of the invention of the printing press. Following the video, students will be asked to travel to the History.com site which will provide a second video about the life of Martin Luther, and will be accompanied by an article students will have to read. The article will go into detail about the Reformation outside of Germany, particularly England, as well as the Reformation in Switzerland. The article also covers the Catholic Counter-Reformation and how the Pope tried to stop the spread of Luther's ideas.
This webquest can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan.
