Something that hasn’t changed as a result of College Board changes in AP Language his year in my AP Language classes is the consistency that students begin with in terms of the rhetorical situation, close reading, argument, and the synthesis of information.
Now that we’re well into the school year I've assessed my students’ application of Chapters 1-3 (or 4) —depending on the edition of Shea, Scanlon, and Aufses’ text The Language of Composition (TLC) that you may use. I use the first edition; however, I also have access to the second edition. (I allowed students to use their composition notebooks, which SHOULD HAVE BEEN populated with notes from their summer assignment work). The assessment was summative, so I've allowed them to rework the content and retake the assessment should they choose.)
