This real-world problem explores fractions and the Common Core Math Practices 1-6! It asks students to act as if they are on community committee considering the proposal for the use of one of the community's parks for a race. Students must add and subtract fractions, create a diagram/model of the race course, deal with concerned citizens and write a recommendation to the committee for acceptance or denial of the proposal based on mathematical reasoning!
