In these three activities/worksheets students review the basic literary elements. They specificall focus on characterization, irony, and coflict. Irony is often difficult for students to grasp and this worksheet helps them isolate the irony and identify which type of irony it is. It also has a section where students are making predictions as they read. The prediction stopping points are made by page number so they may need to be adjusted based on the literature book you are using. These worksheets ask students to find details in the book to support all of their answers and helps students in that process. The worksheets cover the common core skills of prediction and citing textual evidence. I use these to review the elements of the story as well as to push students to go back and support their answers with evidence from the text.
