This worksheet reviews a TON of common core standards as students read and study Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven.
First, students will look at stanzas and decide which part of the plot the stanza fits into (exposition, climax, etc).
Then, students are given a series of comprehension questions that require them to back up claims using textual evidence. Questions touch on the narrator's ability to distinguish reality from dreams and conflicts.
Students will also analyze a section of the poem for sound devices like internal rhyme and assonance.
To conclude, students will watch a clip of the Raven from youtube (the link is included) and will use both the clip and the poem to decide the ultimate question: Did the narrator see an actual raven, or is he insane? Students will chart evidence from both the poem and the clip in a graphic organizer before coming to a conclusion.
