This engaging, CCSS aligned and classroom-ready resource pack includes before reading, during reading, and after reading activities. My students have thoroughly enjoyed them!
The series of activities are focused on the essential question, "How do people react in the face of fear?".
The unit is aligned to the 6th-grade "Collections" series, although it can be implemented easily by any teacher.
Before reading activities include vocabulary sorts and practice, "Would You Rather" game cards, a journaling prompt, and a photographic observation activity to generate discussion. All activities are guided through a SMART Notebook interactive presentation. Please note that SMART Notebook software is needed in order to fully implement such activities. All word documents are fully editable.
During and after reading, students focus on characterization through the usage of character maps. Students cite text evidence to support their responses.
