Description
Dive into the real number system and rational versus irrational numbers with these math stations. Students will learn about the different number systems: natural, whole, integers, rational and irrational. They will analyze the similarities and differences between the systems and apply their knowledge using a Venn diagram. Critical thinking questions help students to have a thorough understanding of the different number systems.
The following math stations are included:
- Number System Vocabulary: Students will define the different number systems: natural, whole, integers, rational, and irrational
- Venn Diagram: Students will analyze the different number systems and place numbers on a Venn diagram. Students will also critically think about the number systems.
- Number System Analysis: Given critical thinking questions students have to think deeply to determine if the statement is true or not. They must give a counter-example if the statement is false.
- Writing About Numbers: Students write about their understanding of rational and irrational and numbers and how they know how to classify numbers.
This product includes four math stations. Each station will take about 15 – 20 minutes to complete. These stations should be completed in order. A recording sheet and answer sheet are also included.
These would also be great to use as homework, group work or assessments.
