Bumper 32 word puzzle. This is an active learning resource using words with which students must be familiar to understand the plot of The Red Pyramid.
Words in the puzzle are .. amulet, archaeologist, ba, banish, battle, chaos, Chief Lector, curator, demon, diviner, Duat, Egyptology, enemy, god, goddess, godling, hieroglyph, host, Ma'at, magician, museum, nome, obelisk, Per Ankh, pharaoh, portal, pyramid, Rosetta Stone, sarcophagus, shabti, summon, and underworld.
Although students often see the puzzle format as a fun task, it is an active learning activity. This is the type of activity that you could use with early finishers, or give to a sub teacher, or use as a filler on a day when you have nothing else prepared.
A word bank is supplied to support students. You could redact this to make the puzzle more challenging. I've used a one page format for the puzzle, with the grid, clue text and word bank on the same page. My students seem to prefer this format.
The solution is printed on the second page. Download the preview file to see the solution and the grid.
